Local Arts Resources

Northwind Art in Port Townsend provides an array of in-person and online classes. They also provide gallery space to local and regional artists, and curate artwork at Jefferson Healthcare.

Grover Gallery, featuring Quimper Arts members Tracy Grisman and Julie Read, offers classes and workshops, plus opportunities for guest artists to show. Quimper Arts is the guest artist for January and February of 2024.

Urban Sketchers Port Townsend, run by watercolor sketch artist Chris Stevenson, offers convivial and free monthly sketch outings in and near Port Townsend. Sessions are on Saturdays, year round– winter sessions generally have an indoor option.

Port Townsend Drink & Draw meets live at local establishments, up to twice a month. Follow them on Instagram for details.

Raw Art Collective brought back to life Port Townsend’s Artists Studio Tour in 2024, and announced the 2025 tour for August 23 and 24. Other creative approaches have included the Wild Art Vending Machine at Reveille in Fort Worden; “Outtakes”, a one-night art fair in conjunction with Port Townsend’s Art Walk; and Walking Gallery, with local artists taking their work to the streets.

PT Artscape provides visual and dramatic arts in Port Townsend’s public schools, in the service of students, teachers, and artists who want to teach their art.

While we recommend borrowing and buying physical books– available from sources such as Quimper Arts members, the public library and on-line bookstores — many classic drawing books are in the public domain, so available free in digital form. Check out Internet Archive and  drawingbooks.org for an excellent selection.
